Moccasin Lake Recreation Area



The Moccasin Lake Recreation Area
is located 25 miles north of Antigo, WI on Hwy 45 and about 3 miles west of Elcho, WI. This beautiful area is surrounded by county-owned land that is dominated by maple, birch, pine and large, beautiful hemlocks. Amenities and recreation opportunities include:

The Moccasin Lake Ski Trail offers 5.5 miles of groomed trails for both classical and freestyle skiing. These trails are designed for all ability types with challenging intermediate loops and easy loops. This trail system also offers over 3 miles of designated snowshoe trails that meander around the property. Snowshoer's please stay on designated snowshoe trails.

This trail is free of charge as a service to the public and solely funded by your donations. Please consider donating to keep this trail system up and running; a donation box is available at the trailhead. The maintenance and grooming efforts are done completely by dedicated volunteers; please follow their Facebook page for more information and updates!

Michelle's Lodge was constructed in 2017 in honor and memory of Michelle Koss, who was an avid and passionate recreationist and resident of Langlade County. This beautifully constructed lodge was built in collaboration between the Elcho School Tech Ed. class and Nicholson Woodworks Inc. The lodge is open to the public year-round and features a cozy fireplace and seating. 

The Moccasin Lake camping area offers a primitive area for overnight horse riding adventures. There is ample room for grazing as well as fire rings, picnic tables, a vault restroom and fresh drinking water available. This camping area is on a first come, first serve basis and free of charge. Please consider donating to keep this area available.
