Charles De Langlade Recreation Area is located near Post Lake, WI about 30 miles northeast of Antigo, WI. This area is about 600-acres of county-owned lands and contains two small, undeveloped lakes named Perch and Aninnan. While visiting this hidden gem you can expect to see stunning scenery of towering pines, large oaks, low bog areas, natural shorelines and an abundance of wildlife such as Trumpeter Swans!
Fun Fact: Trumpeter Swans were almost entirely eliminated from Wisconsin

in the late 1880s due to habitat loss and market hunting. Fortunately, re-introduction efforts that occurred in the late 1980s proved highly successful that the species was removed from the endangered species list in 2009! Although Trumpeter Swan numbers now exceed 5,000 in Wisconsin, it is not very common to see them in Langlade County until recently! A small group of Trumpeter Swans have been spotted in the Post Lake area. They most likely live on the Wolf River but come to visit Perch and Aninnan often so be sure to keep an eye out for these large majestic birds!
